I just saw this article on Yahoo! while I was at work:
Postal Service to Cut Saturday Mail to Trim Costs
I'm actually OK with this. This has been rumored for years but now it seems like its actually going to happen. Sure I won't get any mail delivered on Saturdays but if it means I can still be able to send and receive trade packages during the week, I'm all for it.
Reading further into the article, you will be able to get your mail on Saturday if you get your mail in a P.O. Box. Also, all of the service windows that are presently open on Saturday will not be affected. You will still be able to go to the counter and send out packages, buy postage and stamps.
What do you think about the change?
So long as you can still physically go to the Post Office counter to drop off stuff to be mailed (and pick up stuff that couldn't fit in your mailbox), get stamps etc... I'll be fine with it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, as I was reading the article again, everything you stated is true.
Deleteif it makes you feel any better.... Canada has never had Saturday mail service. AND all postal outlets are closed as well. (although you can go to certain drugstores to buy stamps, etc..)
ReplyDeleteI never knew that. Now I Know and knowing is half the battle!
DeleteNot thrilled with it. But I almost never receive anything of note in the mail on Saturdays and can never get up in time to deliver anything on Saturdays, so I'd barely notice.
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid the PO when possible (I print my postage at home now) and when I do have to go I do it on company time!
DeleteI don't understand the wait until August. Stop it now and start saving the $$!!90% of what I get is garbage anyhow. Hell, I don't even get many bills anymore, they are emailed, and then paid lectronically!!
ReplyDeleteApparently they are using the 6 months leading up to the switch to reassign employees and offer retirement packages to others. The only thing I get in the mail anymore is trading packages and the wife gets some magazines. All the bills are delivered by email.
