Card Show Pickups: The Ripkens

I went to a card show last weekend and I'm just now getting around to posting about it.  Gimme a break, I've been busy with work, yard work, gardening, and playing baseball myself.  Anyways, I'm going to pepper the blogosphere this weekend with a bunch of recap posts of the cardboard awesomeness I acquired.

The Collector's Showcase of America (CSA) show is 3 times a year, held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly Virginia.  It's a 2 hour drive for me to make it there but I've found time and time again it is totally worth it.  I usually start saving my money months in advance to have enough denero to make it worth my time.  I'm going to break up my purchases in categories to give some much needed continuity to my recaps.

First Up:  The Cal Ripken Cards
I found when I got home that there was a familiar theme to my Ripken purchases.  There were a ton of shiny foilboard cards!
I must have been drawn to these suckers like a mosquito to a bug buster!
This one wasn't quite so shiny but another nice addition to my PC.
Back to the shiny again.  It says piece of the game but there isn't any jersey or bat piece embedded in the card.
My scanner took the whole cut to the chase idea literally and decided to chop off part of the scan on the right side.

I added several other Cal Ripken cards that I didn't show here but these were my favorites.

  1. The late '90s and early 2000s really showered Cal with shiny, it always seems to me. A few weeks ago!? Hell, I take 3-6 months to post a show! Be proud.
